Hello All,
Last Thursday I was at my preliminary examination for laser treatment. Apart from the very long waiting times everything went well.
I had my appointment at 10.30 a.m. The examination began about an hour later. The premises are quite small but that doesn’t affect the quality of the examinations. The staff make a great effort and the technical equipment appears to be state-of-the-art. After the examinations I was able to go out for two hours at lunchtime and had to be back again at 2.15 p.m. After a half-hour wait, I went in to see Dr. Maubach.
At this point I can only say – well done!
Dr. Maubach really does take a great deal of time for further examinations and advises you in a very competent and friendly way. In person he comes across as even more pleasant than in his videos. My previously rather queasy feeling simply disappeared.
Six patients were undergoing laser treatments in the afternoon, and I was the last one! For this reason, I was able to go out again for a few hours. My laser treatment was carried out at 7.15 p.m. Dr. Maubach really does explain every little move in detail during the procedure and tells you what will happen next. The operation took place without any problems and when I went into the waiting room I could already see more clearly than before the operation.
The next day I then had the first check-up.
My eyesight was 160%.
The next day I could actually see things that I couldn’t even see before with my glasses on.
Tomorrow it will be one week since the operation and everything has run very smoothly since then. It really is important that you apply the eye drops regularly which you are given after the treatment. This gives optimum help with the healing.
This Friday I have the second check-up and I will be on my way back to Cologne.
Summary of my experiences:
I would go back to Dr. Maubach any time for this procedure and I can recommend him with a clear conscience!

Overall, I am very satisfied with the laser treatment carried out by Dr. Maubach.
Before the appointment was arranged, Dr. Maubach patiently answered all my outstanding questions about the operation.
On the day of the treatment, I had one criticism to make regarding waiting times: having risen early and made an exhausting journey of more than six hours to reach the appointment at the agreed time of midday, I found Dr. Maubach was running 1½ hours late. This can happen, but in such cases patients should be informed accordingly so that they can go to their hotel in between. The same applies to the rest of the waiting, as appropriate information at the outset would have been desirable.
Besides that everything went to my complete satisfaction. The preliminary examination was conducted quickly and precisely, and in the final conversation before the procedure, the results were discussed in detail and any necessary or sensible additional module was suggested. Apart from that, the individual stages of the procedure were explained, which calmed the nerves a little.
The operation itself was swift, but it felt a bit weird experiencing it even though the doctor explained all the steps beforehand. The work was, as far as I could judge, extremely precise and Dr. Maubach, who is very experienced, was calmness personified.
After the procedure, drops were put into my eyes at the practice over the next hour, after which I went to the hotel. My vision was still a bit blurry in the evening but the next day I could see clearly (160%). It is unbelievable how quickly it worked.
I had pain but after 5 days this had disappeared, and it is important to make sure you apply the drops as directed. Everything seems to be healing well but in two weeks I have to undergo a final assessment.
All in all the laser operation by Dr. Maubach is to be recommended at all events.

On 06/15/2011 it was finally time and it was with some anxiety that I travelled to my appointment at the eye laser practice of Dr. Maubach.
I was greeted warmly at the reception and had the feeling straight away that I was in good hands there. After a waiting time, admittedly longer than stated, which is unavoidable due to the thorough examinations of my fellow patients, it was time to go in.
Numerous tests and examinations were carried out which, as far as I could judge, and based on experiences in other eye specialist practices that I know, were conducted very methodically.
Finally, before the procedure, I then had a very detailed discussion with Dr. Maubach, without any time pressures, in which a variety of examinations and “fine-tuning adjustments” were carried out. In the run-up, Dr. Maubach explained in detail everything that would take place and helped allay any doubts and fears I had.
The laser procedure itself was completely painless and at this stage too, Dr.Maubach explained every step in detail and helped calm my nerves. The entire operation lasted around 15 minutes but this seemed considerably shorter to me. The laser treatment itself lasted only seconds for each eye, during which I noticed a slight burning smell – therefore for the second eye I simply held my breath for a few seconds.
Straight after the treatment I could already see well, although it was all a bit blurred – as though I had just stepped out of a chlorine-treated pool.
The doctor’s assistant then applied eye drops around every 5-10 minutes so that the eyes were kept moist.
Finally, I was examined by Dr.Maubach one last time and then “released” with details of a program of eye drops that I was to follow in my own interest.
The next morning my first check-up took place, which was relatively quick but thorough. My eyesight was already around 120%.
Now, a week after the procedure and the second check-up, I have reached almost 160% and am simply delighted that I took the step of undergoing laser treatment. Now I can see better and more precisely without my glasses than I could with glasses before the operation.
At the moment I still need reading glasses for small print, but according to Dr. Maubach this should adjust itself within the next few months.
My conclusion: I can only recommend this procedure to anyone, and with Dr.Maubach and his team you really are in very good, highly-qualified hands.
At this point, I would like to thank Dr.Maubach and his friendly team of assistants once again.

The laser corrective surgery operation was carried out on my eyes on 06/16/2011.
I have to say that it was simply brilliant! Based on my experiences up to now I can only recommend it. Dr. Maubach carried out the treatment carefully, expertly and with composure.
I found his voice extremely calming during the procedure.
The waiting times and organization of the practice are a little unsatisfactory though. In my opinion, the whole treatment with the preliminary examinations, etc. could be conducted in a much shorter time period.
What came as a bit of a shock was the cost of additionally bookable modules to ensure visual enhancement that is truly 100%.
But all in all I am very satisfied and would repeat this procedure any time with Dr. Maubach.

Thank you very much for this praise. Modern laser treatments are individualized. Measurements using seven pieces of equipment take time, but this is worthwhile to ensure precise familiarity with the eye. This takes a considerable length of time.
